Signs your motherboard may need repair
The cause is not always the board, which is why we test before we recommend anything.
It will not switch on
No lights, no fans, no charging light. It could be the charger or battery, but a power fault on the board is a common cause.
Liquid has been spilled
Coffee, tea, water or juice. Corrosion keeps spreading after a spill, so switch it off and bring it in quickly.
No picture, or it restarts in a loop
The screen stays black, or the device powers up but shows nothing, gets stuck on a logo or keeps restarting.
Heat or sudden shutdowns
Overheating, a burning smell or random shutdowns can point to a failing component on the board.
How our motherboard repair works
A clear process, handled by our own engineers.
1. Book a diagnostic check
By appointment at our Cambridge or Dagenham workshop. Tell us what happened and what the device is doing.
2. Diagnostics

3. Report and quote
We send a report with your quote, including proof-of-work photos, measurements and test results, so you can decide whether the repair is worth it.

Spilled something? What to do first
General advice that gives the repair the best chance.
- Switch it off straight away. Do not leave it running.
- Unplug the charger and any accessories, and remove the battery if it is removable.
- Do not try to switch it on or charge it to see if it still works.
- Do not use a hairdryer or put it in rice. Heat can cause more damage, and rice does not remove corrosion.
- Contact us quickly. Corrosion keeps spreading, so speed matters.

Motherboard repair questions
Straight answers to what customers ask us most.
How long does a motherboard repair take?
Diagnostics usually take 2 to 4 hours, and advanced diagnostics can take up to 24 hours. How long the repair itself takes depends on the fault and on whether parts are needed. We will give you an estimate with your quote.
How much does a motherboard repair cost?
The cost depends on the fault, so we diagnose first. A diagnostic fee may apply and is agreed with you before any work starts. We then send a report with a clear quote, so you can decide whether the repair is worth it.
Can a laptop or PC that had liquid spilled on it be repaired?
Often it can, but it depends on how much damage the liquid has done. Corrosion keeps spreading after a spill, so the sooner you switch the device off and bring it in, the better the chances.
Do you repair games console motherboards?
Yes. We repair PS5 and Xbox consoles, including HDMI port replacement and damaged pad and track repair. See our PS5 and Xbox repair pages for more detail.
Do I need an appointment?
Yes. Our workshops in Cambridge and Dagenham work by appointment, so please call, WhatsApp or book online first.
What if my data matters most?
A motherboard repair does not need us to look at your files. If your data is the priority, tell us when you book and we can also advise on data recovery.
